NIGERIA / KENYA : KPA's Lynette Atieno Joins Nigerian Powerhouse First Bank Ball Outfit:

NATIONAL team and Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) forward Lynette Atieno has joined Nigerian power house First Bank.
The soft spoken player, the first to take such a huge stride in KLenya, confided that she arrived safely in Lagos and things are on course. She is training with her new side and is ready to take to the court for the Lagos top women's ladies side when the league throws off on March 25.
Kenya Basketball Federation (secretary Vitalis Gode confirmed Atieno's move to Lagos saying she was officially released to join the Nigerian champions. "Yes, I cleared the player and she is free." he said.
Atieno, who joined the porters last year but played only a few games for the former national champions, was identified by the Nigerian side during last year's Fiba Africa women's club championships in Sfax, Tunisia. First Bank finished fourth in the event.
KPA were placed eighth in the nine team tournament. They did not win a single game but Atieno made herself a name and was also scouted by Tunisia and Mozambican sides before finally settling for First Bank.
Anthony Ojukwu, her coach at KPA said yesterday that he was happy for Atieno and urged all players going out there for international assignments to take the exposure seriously and always put up their best performance.
"I am happy for her" he said adding "Lynette is a good player, hard working and coachable. I wish her well. We were based in the same hotel with First Bank and I helped her in negotiating a contract before she settled for that team besides the other two."
KPA lost 52-67 to First Bank with Atieno scoring nine points and grabbing 13 rebounds. She had 21 in another 58-75 loss to Tunisia side CS Sfaxien before posting 13 against former winners Club Desportivo de Agosto of Angola.
