NIGERIA : D'Tigers to Play Invitational Tournament in South Africa

The Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF, has said that the Senior National Basketball Team, D'Tigers will feature in a four-nation invitational tournament next month in South Africa.
"The National team will participate in a four Nations invitational tournament in Johannesburg which will feature South Africa, Kenya, Mozambique and Nigeria from 18th- 22nd March, 2015," the President of the Federation, Tijani Umar said in Abuja on Tuesday.
The men's national team before now have been largely inactive and fears had been expressed in some quarters that D'Tigers may be worse for it when the Afrobasket qualifiers get underway soon.
Aside the invitational tourney for D'Tigers, other plans of the Federation were also unveiled which included several grassroots programme and deliberate actions to improve the standard of the basketball league in Nigeria.
Amongst such is the NBBF Prospect Camp that will identify players for the Basketball Without Borders (BWB) programme, which will hold 13- 15 February.
The prospect camp will run through February 6-7, and will be coordinated by Emmanuel Odah and Michael Aubourn of the FCT Basketball Association .
There will also be support from Ahmed Aliyu Danmama, Kano State; Spencer Chileh, Benue State; and Ahmadu Abba, Taraba State.
