UGANDA : Okello eager for UCU to inflict more damage on Power

KAMPALA- Boniface Okello believes UCU Canons stand a chance of inflicting a second straight defeat on Tiger Head Power when the two teams meet today in the Airtel National basketball league.
“We stand a good chance if we can stop their fast prevent fast break offense,” said the small forward who also won two titles with Power in
2010 and 2011
UCU(6-3) have had a decent start to the season and are the only team to have beaten champions City Oilers this season.
Their roster is also expected to be beefed up by the additions of centre Francis Ogola and Martin Okwako who have been away from their recent games.
Power will meanwhile hope to bounce back from last Friday’s 102-92 defeat to Riham Warriors which left the five time champions with a 5-4 record.
In the continued absence of big man Phillip Ameny, Power will look once again look to shooting guard Paul Odong who is averaging 19 points from his last three games.
On Wednesday, Riham Warriors continued their renaissance with an 88-56 straight forward victory over Sharing Youth.
Guard Jude Ochen led all scorers with 16 points with three other players, Stephen Okias 12, Brian Gumisiriza 11 and Eric Malinga 10 all getting into double figures.
Stephen Otoa meanwhile scored 12 and Tony Okello 11 points as Caleb Ernest’s Sharing slumped to 4-6 this season.
The other game had six time winners Krishna Falcons, hold Nkumba Marines’ 24-12 third quarter surge to prevail 76-65.
Syrus Kiviiri continued his blistering start to the season with a game high 23 points coupled with able assistance from Peter Elungat’s 19 points.
