The six-day tournament throws off on August 25 and will bring together teams from Burundi, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda and host Kenya. "Mombasa is all set for this big championships. Everything is in place and we are all raring to go. We have got some sponsorship and we still hope other sponsors will come on boar," Said Ali.
Hilmi revealed they will use two venues with the men playing at the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Welfare Hall at Makande and the ladies battling it out at the Aga Khan Academy. Reigning national champions Co-operative Bank of Kenya and KPA together with last year's runners up United States International University (USIU) KPA men have confirmed participation. Women reigning champions Eagle Wings participation is still in doubt as they await clearance from FIBA. Urunani of Burundi are the defending men champions having won the title at home during last year's show in Bujumbura.
