KENYA : Unbeaten Thunder maintain lead in KBF Premier League



 

Thunder basketball club is at the helm of the Kenya Basketball Federation Premier League with 12 points. The team has so far played six matches winning all of them and in the process beating the 2012 defending champions Co-op Bank. Co-op Bank is placed second with 10 points also having played six matches but losing two of them, the other one coming courtesy of last season’s runners up USIU Tigers.
League debutants Nakuru Club are in third place with 10 points also but have played 8 matches the highest number of matches played by any team so far. They have registered two wins only and the latest came over the past Sunday when they beat Blazers 80-62.
Lions and Strathmore are in the fourth and fifth position respectively with the club that was formerly sponsored by the Kenya Commercial Bank having 9 points while the Makadara based students follow with 8 points. Both teams have played five matches.
Mennonites is in position six with 8 points having played six matches, winning two of those while USIU Tigers follow at seventh place after losing only one of the four matches that they have played. They have 7 points and the loss came courtesy of league leaders Thunder.
UoN Terrorists, Nairobi Aviation and Blazers are in 8th, 9th and 10th respectively with all the three teams sharing 7 points. Terrorists have played five matches so far in the league while Aviation and Blazers have played six matches.  Blazers and Aviation have both lost 5 of their matches while Terrorists have lost three of its matches.
The last two places are held by Mombasa based, Kenya Ports Authority who are placed 11th while Ulinzi is placed last in the log. The two teams have played three matches the least number of matches played.  KPA has 5 points while Ulinzi who registered a 78-72 win over Nairobi Aviation on Saturday have 4 points.
