LIBERIA : National Basketball League Heats Up

The Liberia 2013 National Basketball League continued over the weekend with more and more amazing performances at the opened air Sports Commission on Broad Street in Monrovia. Six teams including two current championship holders in the male category of the second and third division were amongst the teams battling for supremacy of the Liberia Basketball Association (LBA) 2013 national league.
The LBA national league which officially kicked off February 23, 2013 is featuring 40 teams drown form the first, second and third divisions of both male and female basketball categories.
In division one, Mighty Barrolle Basketball team came from behind in the fourth quarter of the second half to narrowly defeat Monrovia Sky Force 60-58 points. 2012 second division champions, the Cardinal put up a great performance, but were unlucky as they fell to Cestos Mogars by 50-71 points.
In the day's other matches, third division giants D- Rockas trashed the Supreme Brothers 103-23 points.
Meanwhile, there will be no basketball match in the male category according to the 2013 fixture until Sunday March 10, 2013.
According to the fixture on Sunday March 10, 2013, C-Delta will be lock horns with K-Deltas in the day's first game, Cardinals will face SOS Trotters at in the second match and Mighty Barrolle goes against Cestos Mongars again in the last encounter of the day.
The momentum of fans attending matches is increasing gradually in LBA 2013 league. The open air Sports Commission was half packed on Sunday as compare to previous games that have been played at the court, our reporter who covered the games observed.
"Even though Basketball is Liberia's second most popular sports apart from football, we only expect the entire gymnasium to be jammed pack when the competition is in seminal and final stages", an authoritative of the LBA also told our reporter.
