NABISUNSA Girls basketball team, who previously captured the schools’ basketball title in the 2011 schools’ tournament, doubled their pleasure by hoisting the All-Star basketball weekend trophy.
Shining brightest again among the stars was Nabisunsa’s Rachel Achieng who brought Showtime back to the girls’ All-Star game, scoring 12 points and claiming the MVP award in Nabisunsa’s 31-27 victory over Buddo SS on Sunday evening.
Returning to the game they once dominated, Ssaku SS emerged winners in the boys category after a spectacular performance in front of the student-filled crowd that turned out to experience the first event on the schools’ basketball calendar.
Bruno Tumusiime nailed 10 points for Ssaku, who used a late run in the second half to post a 28-22 win over St Mary’s College, Kisubi(SMACK) on the Nabisunsa Center Court.
The welcome All-Star break for the students attracted a total of 16 schools inclusive of hosts Nabisunsa Girls, Gayaza Girls, Lubiri, Mukono Parents, Ndejje SS, St Micheal, Buddo SS and Crane High as they warm up for the competitive calendar of events expected soon on the schools’ basketball schedule.
