KENYA : Six clubs book places for NBA Play-offs next week .

SIX teams have booked places in the 2011 Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) Provincial play-offs planned for next weekend at the Railways Club. With a total 14 matches on card, fixtures secretary Caleb Osewe said league leaders Kenya Airways (61 points), Barclays Bank (58), Strathmore University (53), KU Pirates (53), Old Pirates (52) and Upper Hill School (48) have all qualified for the post season games. The last two places, he observed, will be filled by either Baraka Xtreme (47), Little Prince (47), Legacy (46) or Jomo kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (46). The four teams go into this weekend’s matches aware of the scenario.


Over the weekend, KQ soared past Upper Hill School 68-56 in a charged show. Vincent Onsongo scored 18 points and Erick Odhiambo netted 14. Collins Ochieng led with 21 and Eric Ouma hit 14 for the students. Upper Hill beat Heroes 63-46. Barclays Bank nipped JKUATS 53-46 as Ian Wachie collected 21 points. JKUATS posted a 64-57 victory over Legacy. Dean Wamema led the way with 29. Reagan Basweti hit points 17 while Manasseh Otieno and Paul Limanthi nailed 15 each to lift Old Pirates to a 88-39 thumping of Aquinas High. KU Pirates rolled over Multi Media University (MMU) while in the ladies tie, Barclays Bank beat Jkuat 47-42.
