UGANDA : Eagles, Falcons flying in tandem

WANDEGEYA

Miracle Eagles and 7UP Falcons are flying at different heights with totally different goals in the MTN-Fuba League.

The Eagles edged ever close to a maiden postseason appearance with an 85-58 rout of faltering Nkumba Marines whereas Falcons eased their relegation fears by beating Ndejje University Angels 69-57 on Sunday.

Eagles’s big two – Stephen Omony and Norman Blick – finally played like clones on a slippery YMCA court surface following a heavy afternoon downpour. Blick scored a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds to go with Omony’s 13 and 16 as coach Joe Burua’s side surged to second.

The duo was eclipsed by Edwin Kateregga, who scored 19 to leave Marines in a relegation fight. Here, coach Timothy Odeke will find a fighting Falcons side that banked on Peter Elungat’s 18 points to win.
