UGANDA : Final bow for Marines

Kampala

Today at YMCA
Marines v St. Michael (5.30pm)
Women
Stormers v Crane High (4pm)
Cubs v Amazon (1pm)

Nkumba Marines may be far away from the glory days in the MTN-Fuba League but coach Timothy Odeke is hopeful that reaching this year’s play-offs is a realistic target. Today at YMCA court Wandegeya, Marines wrap up their first round engagements against St. Michael lying in sixth, far from the title winning seasons of 2005 and 2006.
“If you look at the injury situation, fifth or sixth after round one is not so bad. I want us to be in a position good enough to launch a play-off charge,” Odeke said. Division one debutants St. Michael have only won once this season, beating fellow newcomers Berkley.

Odeke’s hopes Julius Lutwama, Philip Wakimwero and Ladslas Ikungura can take this opportunity to raise their confidence after injury spells over the past three months.
