LIBERIA : Fresh minds needed at LBF

One of the coaches of first division basketball club Wild cats Oliver Mayonga has made several recommendations for what he claimed would help improve the game of basketball in the country.

He recommended the need for a basketball conference to be conducted in order to seek out some major shortcomings in the game of basketball.

Mr. Mayonga said if such conference is held, it will help take basketball to another level.

Coach Mayonga said basketball has taken serious down ward trend in the country and needs reawakening.

Making several points to support his claim, the basketball technician said the attendance of games in recent time at the sports commission has been disappointing.

According to the Young Coach, at the conference the officials would find a way to attract fans to the game and solve many short comings that have the propensity to derail the progress of basketball.

Meanwhile, Mr.Mayonga has called for the resignation of the administrators of basketball in the country.

He said his long time advocacy for such action needs to also affect the executive committee members of the LBF. 'Fresh minds are actually needed at the the LBF'Mr.Mayongar stressed.

The LBF coach said another issue of bad leadership is the double closure recently experienced in the federation.

He said the 2008 and 2009 basketball season was just recently closed jointly which is never a good precedence.

Mr.Mayongar has for the past few months being strongly advocating for the resignation of officials at the LBF but there has been no adherence or official response at from authorities at the local basketball house.
