NIGERIA : IPNX telecom backs Rookie tourney

The 2008 Rookie Academy annual basketball tournament receive a boost recently as a telecommunications service provider, IPNX Nigeria Limited has thrown its weight behind the Mark Balogun organized tournament for U18 boys and girls.

According to the Executive Director of the Lagos-based telecomm company, Ifeanyi Amah that he was thrilled by the effort being put into developing the young kids in the metropolis by Coach Balogun and his crew.

The IPNX top-shot says his modest outfit might have the financial power to dole out millions of naira to back the 2008 edition of the tournament which is the 10th in the series but his company will undertake some major aspect of the competition in order to add glamour to one of the nation’s foremost youth tournament.

“We are determined to do what we can contribute in order to make this year’s tournament a huge success and that we are doing.

“I am most impressed by the efforts of coach Balogun and his crew members which comprise Maurice Omatoje, Emeka Oputa in contributing to the career shaping of the teeming youths that thronged the basketball court of the Police College, Ikeja daily to learn the rudiment of the game, the IPNX boss said.

Tournament coordinator, Balogun said the six-day event billed to jump-start on Monday will feature teams in the U18 male and female category, U16 male and U12 male.

Balogun who also double as the head coach of the Nigeria Police basketball teams says winning teams will be handsomely rewarded.
