A-1 Challenge are virtually assured of a place in the MTN-Fuba League play-offs after they overcame Makerere Sparks 55-49 to record their 14th straight victory at Namboole, Sunday evening.

The 2005 champions are now perched at the top of the table with 28 points and still on course to finish the regular season unbeaten.

Claire Ahumuza scored 12 points, Elizabeth Kizza 10 and Aggie Nantogo chipped in with eight as A-1 Challenge built on a 23-14 first half lead to snatch victory.
Sparks put their act together in the third quarter, winning 20-16 but the last session ended 16-all to ensure the Makerere side misses the post season for a second year running.
Atim Melody and Sandra Munduru had 15 points each while Lyn Nalunkuma contributed eight for Sparks. A-1 can now afford to lose all their remaining games but still finish in the top four.
