APR basketball club are just a game away from rewriting history as the first club to finish the regular season unbeaten.
The former champions thrashed Rusizi 82-65 on Sunday to record their 13th win on the trot.
The Indomitable Lions roared from the start, finishing the first quarter with an 18-12 lead before going into recess with a 44-33 lead.
Rusizi, who are on the verge of playing in their second successive play-offs showed resilience but still fell short in the third quarter 8-19.
The Western Province outfit finally pulled off a 24-19 lead in the fourth quarter but that only reduced the big gap.
The towering Bienvenue Ngandu collected a game high 22 points while shooting forward Presta Malemba added 18 for Cliff Owuor's side.
After the win, Owuor said, "It's another win for us and we are happy we did it again. We are now looking forward to our final game against UGB (United Generation Basketball)."
In the other games, Marine returned to winning ways at the weekend after back to back wins over CSK and UGB.
The defending champions started their emphatic run with a dramatic 65-54 win over CSK, a side they beat to the title last season before topping it up with a close 78-73 win against UGB.
The two victories took the Gisenyi-based club to 23 points, three adrift of table leaders APR.
CSK bounced back from the Marine defeat with an impressive 84-53 victory over minnows Kigali Institute of Education (KIE).
Espoir could pay for their forfeiting points against Marine. The 2004 champions are in fifth place with 18 points, two adrift of Rusizi and CSK who are jointly tied in third spot.
In the ladies' fray, UNR controlled proceedings after wins over KIE and Fawe. The Varsity side thumped KIE 78-15 before bagging forfeited points against Fawe.
