RWANDA : APR overcomes CSK hurdle

BY JULIUS MBARAGA

Cliff Owuor’s Indomitable Lions maintained their unbeaten run this season after ousting archrivals CSK 89-67 in a tense league game played at Amahoro stadium indoor courts on Saturday.

APR’s new signing Kami Kabange scored 18 points, six assists and four rebounds to preserve the 2006 champions lead on the league table.

Despite the win, Owuor has hit out at the unfair umpiring that his team was subjected to on Saturday. The former Kenyan international insists that the margin could have been bigger if only the umpires had been fair.
“We had a lot of calls going against us during the CSK game and I hope that does not happen again,” the 34-year-old coach told Times Sport.

Elsewhere, Rusizi had to hold off a late surge from National University of Rwanda before securing a 117-113 win in a close contest that also goes down as the highest score of the season so far.
APR now have 18 points, three ahead of CSK, who are second on the table while defending champions Marines are third.
In the ladies category, Rubavu outclassed Kigali Institute of Education (KIE) 31-27 in one of the lowest scores of the season.
