KENYA : Basketball Branches Hold Elections

Several Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) branches held their elections over the weekend.

In Central Province, Eric Nyangweso was re-elected chairman, in elections held in Thika over last weekend

In Central province, Eric Nyangweso was elected Chairman, with Robert Kiambati and Francis Njuguna as the first and second vice chairman respectively.

The post of the secretary went to Charles Wanjala, while assistant secretary was Kennedy Wanjui.

Treasurer was Richard Ndichu while his assistant was Patrick Ngatia. Fixtures secretary was given to Peter Kimani assisted by Raphael Waweru.

Eastern province elected Chris Kinyua as chairman, Fred Muthama, 1st vice chairman, John Njagi

2nd vice chairman, Ambrose Kisoi, secretary Kinyanjui Ngunjiri, assistant secretary, Vincent Kumuyu

Treasurer, Patrick Njagi, assistant treasurer, Raymond Kinyua fixtures secretary, and Daniel Kisavi as his Assistant.

Nyanza KBF branch will hold its elections this weekend.

Outgoing chairman, Timon Oyucho, said the elections, which were called off due to post elections, would be held in Kisumu City this Saturday.

"Preparations for the elections are complete. We hope delegates would elect officials with interests in the game," said Oyucho.

KBF outgoing national chairman Agina Wesonga said a date for the national polls would be announced once all the branches complete their elections.

Meanwhile, KBF Western branch has released a calendar of events for this season, with some events having been held. They include a basketball-coaching clinic and branch elections.

The annual Fridah Shiroya tournament, the first championship on the federation's calendar was held at Kaimosi complex over the weekend.

Branch chairman, Ali Masiolo, said that the next event will be Mike Arunga sponsored Makambo open tournament, at St Peters Mumias this weekend.
The chairman's cup, sponsored by Masiolo will be staged at Friends School Kamusinga between March 1st and 2nd.

Masiolo added that Madaraka Day national tournament would be held on June 1st at the Kakamega Police canteen.

"The last event on our calendar will be the juniors championship which will be held at Booker Academy in Mumias from June 11th to 12th," said Masiolo.
