SENEGAL 07 : Senegal stops Mozambique, keep a date with Mali

Backed by vociferous home fans Senegal Saturday night fought a big battle to get pass Mozambique in the second semi-finals of the 20th Africa Nations Championship for Women running away with a 63-48 point’s victory.

Inspired by the superb form of Polish-based forward, Aya Traore who was a torn in the flesh of the Mozambican whose best moment in the game was a 19-18 points lose in the third quarter.

The home side won in all four quarters with 15-12, 16-10, 19-18 and 13-08 to advance to her second straight finals.

24 year-old Traore poured in 12 points grabbing 7 rebounds for the Lioness, her team-mates Ndeye Ndiaye grabbed 10 rebounds and 2 blocks while Mame Diodio Diouf had 6 assists to put the 2005 runner-up to set-up a final against Mali.

The duo of Clarisse Machanguana and Aleia Rachide grabbed 7 and 5 rebounds respectively for the Mozambicans.

With the victory, Senegal and Mali will light up the 6,000 capacity Marius Ndiaye gymnasium, Dakar for the grand finale of the championship while Angola and Mozambique fights for the third place.
