By Julu M. Johnson

The Liberia Basketball Federation (LBF) has announced a change in date for its awards ceremony for the 2007 national league season.

The Secretary-General of the LBF, Fred JA Pratt had earlier disclosed that the ceremony was set for Friday, August 3. But it was later gathered from LBF authorities on Monday that a new date would be announced.

Pratt said the LoneStar cellular phone company has sponsored the ceremony with the provision of the laurels.

He named around 15 cartons that have arrived, containing trophies and medals that would be awarded to deserving winners.

In the first division category, NPA Pythons will be awarded as champions while LPRC Oilers will take the runners-up trophy.

The second division will see Edinah Panthers lifting the champions trophy, whereas the runners-up title will go to Commissioners.

K-Deltas will take the Female Division championship trophy as the runner-up title will go to Phoenix.

Apart from the team awards, there are over ten different individual awards that the LBF would give to those that performed exceptionally during the past season.

Among the individual awards available are Most Valuable Player (MVP), Best Three Pointer, Best Defensive Player, High Scorer, Best Rebounder and Rookie of the year.

The LBF would give these awards in each of the three divisions, first, second and female.

The Referee of the year, Best Print and Electronic Sports Journalists and Best Spectator would be honored.

At the closing ceremony, the LBF would formally receive brand new glass boards from its sponsor, the LoneStar Cell. However, the glass boards are already in the possession of the LBF.
