UGANDA : Riders go for pole position

By Gloria Kyomugisha

KNIGHT Riders face the prospect of determined scoring action when they face Vegetarians in today’s basketball league Yello Go conference play-offs.

Riders hold an enviable 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series after a 66-47 game one victory over Vegetarians last weekend. They are fancied to progress to the finals. but Vegetarians have vowed to win the second encounter, setting up the prospect of an absorbing game three.

Riders, seeking to reach their first Yello Go league final, are buoyed by the combination of skipper Ivan Enabu, Roger Odwama and Derrick Mbusi who helped them to success in the first tie.

A victory for Riders will see them advance to the finals. But a win for Vegetarians will see them force a decisive game three in which the winner proceeds to the finals.

Meanwhile, Lubiri High will be hoping to secure a victory against Crane high in the other tie in order to force a decisive game three next week.

Lubiri, who fell 81-61 to Crane High last week in one of the second division play-offs, must win today for a chance to advance to the division finals.

Action continues tomorrow with women’s champions A-1 Challenge taking on KCC Leopards and Warriors facing Sadolin Power in game two of the best-of-three series.
