NIGERIA : First Bank, Dolphins win in Gabon

Nigeria women club champion, First Bank basketball club got off to a good start the 12th edition of the Fiba Africa Women Club Championship holding in Libreville, Gabon with a 57-53 points win over Angolan Interclub basketball club.
The Adewumi Aderemi and Sola Ogunade tutored Elephant Girls as the Nigerian champion is also known were trailing the Angola by 28-26 points at halftime but came back forcefully into the remaining two quarter to snatch victory which now brighten their chances of progressing to the semi-final in group-A.

Nigeria second representative, Dolphins basketball club were not so lucky as they went down to another Angolan team Primero by 61-53 points today, the Sylvester James tutored side will confront reigning champion, Djoliba of Mali tomorrow while First Bank will do battle against home team SOMO of Gabon.

Other results of matches played Saturday and Sunday sees host SOMO winning its first game against KPA of Kenya 59-48; ABC of Ivory Coast posted a surprise win over defending champion Djoliba of Mali by 56-47 points; it was a double victory for Mozambican teams as Ferroviaro posted a 59-47 points win over Hatari of DR Congo while ISPU was also 74-60 points better than Arc En Ciel of DR Congo.

Dolphins thus brightened its chances with a 76-74 win over defending champion Djoliba of Mali decided earlier today while Ports Authority of Kenya defeated ISPU of Mozambique 62-57.
