KENYA : Ulinzi Warriors too good for Terrorists

By Dann O’were

National basketball champions Ulinzi Warriors kept their unbeaten run intact with an easy 72-57 win over University of Nairobi’s Terrorists in a Premier League tie played at Strathmore University.

The soldiers, gunning for a fourth successive title, have now played 15 matches and bagged a maximum 30 points.

They are assured of a top spot during the play-offs. UoN on the other hand have won one match.

Reigning women champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) also maintained their 100 per cent run when they whipped University of Nairobi’s Dynamites 72-26 in another match played on Saturday.

KPA, who are warming for the Africa Club Championships in Libreville, Gabon, in two weeks, had an easy time in the match. They will take the pole position in the play-offs.

In the lower division, Kisumu Lakeside shot to the top of the table with a comfortable 71-55 win over Java Warriors. Nairobi Pentecostal Church (NPC) also won when they beat Don Bosco 73-70.

Elsewhere, Kenya Polytechnic will meet Runda in the Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) following their 61-53 win over Blazers in the semi final played at Railways Club.

High flying Samuel Ocholla hit a game high 20 points for the students while Ken Kenya weighed in with 18 for the Blazers but it proved too little too late.
