RWANDA : APR, BUG in liberation final

By Julius Mbaraga

APR and Basketball United Generation will head today, in this year’s Liberation Day basketball tournament at Amahoro indoor courts.

BUG made it to the finals after winning AGF and KIE while APR outclassed ESPOIR and Marine basketball clubs to book her place in today’s final. BUG’s Jean De Dieu Nizeyimana is optimistic to put an end to APR’s dominance.
Nizeyimana’s squad has been boosted by the return of the duo; Emmanuel Niyonkora (center) and Bizimana (guard) who have been out of action because of injuries.
Of the four meetings, between the two clubs this year, APR has won three with BUG only managing to win one.
These statistics therefore, show that APR are favourites to lift this year’s Liberation Day tourney.
However, APR’s Kenyan tactician, Cliff Owuor is concerned a lot about the absence of his inspirational center Blaise Nikobahoze who is in Burundi.
He told Times Sport that, “The team is highly going to miss the services of Blaise who is in Burundi to attend to some personal issues.”
Nikobahoze inspired APR to glory in the International Gisembe basketball tournament when he posted an individual 23 points for the army side.
