GHANA : Tourney Off To Thrilling Start

The Cowbell Top Six Tournament kicked off with action-filled start last Tuesday with four teams battling each other to advance to the final stages of the competition.

The five-day competition which is being staged at the Lebanon House in Accra saw Braves of CEPS lashing Flames by 104-49 in the opening game.

The game which was one-sided saw Braves dominating with accurate shots and three pointers from the likes of captain Emmanuel Quaye, Suku Muntari, Baniba Dodzie and Seth Okine.

Yotive also stole a slim victory from Warriors in the second game which recorded a relatively low scoreline of 46-42.

Due to the high-tension nature of the game both teams wasted several good chances. Poor visibility at the latter stages of the game, however, affected smooth play.

The Greater Accra Basketball Association Chairman, Mr Vanderpuye Orgle, told the Daily Graphic that he was impressed with the performance of Braves in particular.

“I just hope that the competition will get stiffer as it advances to enable them to raise the level of competition in the tournament,” he said.

The action continues this afternoon at the Lebanon House with Reformers facing Braves in Group A while Yotive play Wizards in Group B.
